Waterford New Music Week is an annual event that explores the wider scope of music. The audiences least influenced by such prejudices are young people and the vigourous programme of school workshops and masterclasses meet with a gratifying and enthusiastic response. The idea that contemporary music, while being challenging and provoking, can also be stimulating and fun is gradually making ground. Musical composition can be a creative experience for everyone with a rudimentary grasp of the language and, thanks to compuer technology, new sound worlds are becoming more accessible. Even the most ardent fan of new music has to admit that its role is fairly marginalised in society today.

Launch Ceremony by special guest Launch of the publication Teaching the Unteachable Concert by The WIT Guitar Society featuring the work of Philip Glass and Eric Sweeney Wed Feb 4th 10am -1130am The Chapel, WIT.

Post Grad/ Lecturers Composers Concert featuring the compositions of Germán Lema, Greg Felton and Arial Hernandes (each piece about 7 minutes). All three accompanied by pianist Izumi Kimura. Followed by late night concert with Phill Collins. Thurs Feb. 5th 10am -1130am The Chapel.
