Waterford New Music Week Festival
Waterford City
02 February 2009 - 08 February 2009
Waterford New Music Week is an annual event that explores the wider scope of music. The audiences least influenced by such prejudices are young people and the vigourous programme of school workshops and
masterclasses meet with a gratifying and enthusiastic response. The idea that
contemporary music, while being challenging and provoking, can also be
stimulating and fun is gradually making ground. Musical composition can be a
creative experience for everyone with a rudimentary grasp of the language and,
thanks to compuer technology, new sound worlds are becoming more accessible.
Even the most ardent fan of new music has to admit that its role is fairly
marginalised in society today.
